LEAP Forward Scholarship
Celebrating Wonder, Courage, and Belonging. This scholarship honors the spirit of Emma Erickson, a young woman who found boundless joy and curiosity in nature. Emma loved frogs, science, and the quiet magic of the outdoors, finding beauty in every detail. She wasn't afraid to get a little messy, delighting in everything from crawling worms to buzzing bugs.

She had a passion for exploration and adventure, embracing each moment with a keen eye for wonder. After graduating from Moorhead High School, Emma pursued her love of art at North Dakota State University. In 2018, Emma took her own life, leaving behind those who loved and cherished her deeply. Through our sorrow, we choose to honor her legacy—a legacy of love for nature, a boundless curiosity, and a deep capacity for awe.

​The Emma Erickson Scholarship celebrates Emma’s spirit by supporting young women who, like her, seek to embrace the world with wonder and compassion. This award serves as a reminder that each person is enough, that they are seen and valued, and that hope can be found even in the hardest times. By honoring Emma, we aim to uplift and inspire, helping others to connect deeply with themselves, with nature, and with a supportive community. We hope each recipient feels the strength and encouragement of a circle of women standing beside them, offering love and hope when it’s needed most.
